Carlton Rara

Singer, composer and actor, Carlton Rara was born in France to a haitian mother and a french father. He’s been influenced by shows and artists of all kind since his early childhood. Jazzmen, choreographers, singers, directors, showed him the way to become a stage artist.
His music is a blend of various influences such as reggae, blues, pop music and others, His compositions often have a rhythmic approach.
The music of Michael Jackson, Taj Mahal, The Police, Snoop Dogg, Supertramp, Manno Charlemagne, The Rolling Stones, Barry White, Al Jarreau, Estelle, Foula, Chris Rea, Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, The Bee Gees, Cesaria Evora, BB KIng, Tina Turner, Dr Dre, Nina Simone…among many others, nourishes his ears and heart.
His discovery of the richness and diversity of Haitian music has significantly influenced his creation.
Carlton Rara made his stage debut in 2005, he has since toured in several countries inluding South Africa, Belgium, Haiti, Martinique, Poland, Switzerland, Reunion Island…). After Peyi Blue, HOME, Raw Sides, Standing in the Corridor, his brand new album Universed will be released in the fall of 2025.
In 2013, his song Do You Love Me was part of the soundtrack of French feature film Josephine. Film maker Pedro Almodovar mentioned him as one of the most inspiring songwriters he was listening to while making his film I’m so Excited.
In 2021, the Putumayo label included his song Choukoun in the compilation World Café.
Carlton Rara also performs as a drama and a voice actor, on stage or in audiobooks and recordings.
His songs and re-creative works continue to address human, societal and universal topics to the sound of accessible and easy going music. He invites us to connect to our deep being, to feel the vibrations of the universe and to accept our permanent transformation.
